The car seat turned out to fit into a stroller, which was colour-coordinated with the same brand of baby carrier and crib. One-stop shopping - easy, except that this seemed like an awful lot of expense and trouble for a little doll. People were staring. Jensen was getting antsy.
“We do not need a crib,” he said quietly, moving Jared away from the overeager sales girl. “The laundry basket works fine.”
“But they match,” Jared said. “There's a discount. And we're supposed to be treating it like a real kid, aren't we? You gonna make our kid sleep in a laundry basket?”
“Um,” Jensen said. All valid points, but he still felt ridiculous buying a crib for a doll.
“Oh my God, you are,” Jared said. “You're gonna be one of those guys who takes all the socks out of his sock drawer and puts the baby in there and thinks that's okay.”
Jensen growled. “Fine. Buy the crib. Knock yourself out.”
