Wow. This was really wonderful. And VERREH SAD. And very in character. Poor Mrs. Lovett. The torment she has to endure, and her complete and utter determination to deceive herself about him is just spot on. The movie has always been a tragedy, and you pick that note up quite wonderfully. And yet she always believes it will pick up, which you also reflect in the somewhat false-happiness of her thoughts.

I really really like some of the comparisons you've made between Todd and the tarnished gold. Whether or not gold really does tarnish, it's not so much a literal thing as an idea, a symbol. Anyways, really good job. And I love the last sentence. ^^
