1. I'm giving Jerry Lewis a pass. It got played up in the media as a bad thing, and even if he is a big ol' homo-hater, he's one million years old. Villifying an old man isn't going to help anyone.
2. I didn't get involved in the great Gay Choice debate, but I think this Whoopi brouhaha perfectly captures every single reason why the "tell people it IS a choice" theory would never work.

Just as ignorance is no excuse neither is age. He's been around long enough to no better. And as much cred as the French and the bulk of his geriatric audience give him, it would have been totally okay to say, "Hey, you know what? Forget it. I blew the line." They would have laughed that mess off. I've seen him do it before.

Now you know folks are always looking for a way to castigate Whoopi and View!Wank being the new black just compounds the issue. Whoopi should just stop trying to do network television. The medium just does not like her.
