So I'm still in Daytona Beach with my mom.  We're getting along OK.  I had a job for about a month, but they discovered they didn't have enough people to train new people, so they had to let me go.

So apparently both Jason de Rulo and Elton John are holding concerts in La Crosse.  I wish I had $80 to spare for Sir Elton, but with my luck I'd just be working that night anyway.  Um...though apparently not at my friend's workplace, who just sent a rejection e-mail.  Oh, boo.

I don't know where this idea of the pre-Woodstock 20th century as a sexless, Leave It to Beaver society sprang from.  I'm scanning through a GOP organ from Illinois, and I'm seeing ads for vibrators and frightening conical lingerie all over the place.  You know, interspersed with the blatant xenophobia and throw-away racist remarks.

Got my first rejection from a magazine today!  Now I'm a real writer.

Also, if I owe you any money, now is the time to remind me through PM, before I start paying hospital bills etc.

Amazingly, I'm still employed.

Kelly Services has packed me off to a company called "Northern Micrographics", whose website is located here: http://www.normicro.com/  Apparently they used to make microfiche archives back in the Stone Age, but now they scan old books and newspapers into computerized formats.  I'm doing "QC", which is some kind of code for "now that we've scanned ( Read more... )

The bad news is that our fridge broke down for the second time this week.  It takes our landlord about 24 hours to actually get around to fixing it, so pretty much everything in the refrigerator is gone.

The good news is that I've finally submitted "The Quality of Mercy" to Zahir.  I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but feel free to be optimistic ( Read more... )

So the temp agency called me yesterday with a factory position on French Island, out in the Mississippi. The bus runs there, so I accepted like an eager little puppy and they told me to fill out some paperwork at the agency, 8:00 AM.
