Fangirling

Sometimes you just have to give in to the fangirling. Having finally seen the Confidential for the Christmas special, I can't think of anything I'd like more than being at one of the read-throughs. Uncle Steven reading the stage directions all urgent and atmospheric, the boy Smith looking all hipster!Matt but acting all Eleventy, and the story ( Read more... )

Seriously. I suppose he does a lot of Elevening while just sat in a chair with a script, what with the re-recording of the sound, but watching it is still quite jaw-dropping.

It really makes me wonder if I've just seen the point of theatre, though - finding the story mainly in the words and voices, with just enough sketched-in visual context to help it make sense. I'd never thought of it like that before.

!!! Where did you see the Confidential? Is it on the BBC website? I'm in the States so you may not be able to help, but I have my ways working around the BBC. hahaha

Off the iplayer, aye, and I downloaded it to the desktop thingy while I had chance; I suspect it's not on the website any more. Don't know how to help, there, I'm afraid.

I dunno about actual theatre, because you tend not to get an Uncle Steven there, but read-throughs like you mean it, hell yes, count me in. :D
