An oops and an update

Over the weekend, I got inspired and wrote my little 1k-word dramionelove promptfest piece in one sitting. But when I went to check the submission terms again, it seems I forgot an important point: the story must be written from either Draco's or Hermione's POV. My story is written in the POV of a third character. Rookie move! Hell's bells! HOW many fests have ( Read more... )

Bravo Groom! Sometimes you just have to rip out the stuff you know to find the gems underneath - what a coup, finding hardwood!! That's going to be absolutely beautiful.

After this spring, only one room in our house will still have carpet, and that's ironically enough OUR guest bedroom. Eventually we'll get it ripped out, but our own bedroom is a priority. The cats have absolutely molested it, and it looks so awful we actually have a rug sitting on TOP of the carpet to hide it.

Can't wait to see your finished Dramione fic - so proud of you!

Very cool! I say if the carpet is still comfortable and good-looking, keep it. Ours is neither!

One of the first things I did when we moved in was rip out the carpeting. ALL of it. The hardwood floors are nice, but nothing special. But: it is so much easier to keep clean. I vacuum every day in the main rooms, because we have parrots and they are messy. But if anyone spills something or tracks in dirt, all I have to do is mop it up. With a carpet, there is all this fuss about carpet cleaners. And also, when you vacuum a carpet, you never get all the junk out of it. They are terribly unsanitary and harbor a multitude of dust mites and who knows what-all.

You're completely right! Especially about not being able to vacuum up dirt completely. When you rip out carpet, it really drives this home. It's such dusty work.
