My brother bought me this book about wine as a belated birthday present, so I've been reading that and having quite a lot of wine lately. Last night, I drank an entire bottle of this beaujolais. I didn't want to drink the entire thing (at least not at first), but the cork broke into pieces when I took it out. I didn't want it to go bad. So I drank ( Read more... )

The Book of Laughter and Forgetting IS really good. It just takes a few chapters for it to really engage the reader. But then you can't put it down. Kind of like all of Kundera's books.

Wine. Awesome. Been having a lot of that myself, lately. Will be drinking much more after we finish moving on Sunday.

et ça, c'est tout :)

Yeah, the more I read of it, the more I'm enjoying it. It's really, really good so far.

What's your new place like?

i think it's funny but not entirely inappropriate that you read neil gaiman/pratchett books. DISCWORLD AHOY!

i am feeling you on long busywork finals. i had an ethics final which included EIGHTEEN, count 'em.. EIGHT-FUCKING-TEEN essay questions. most were worth 2-3 pts but about half were 5-10 pointers. CHRIST WTF. halfway through i had a powerful urge to burst out laughing.

Yeah, this is the first Pratchett book I've read (although I haven't read it yet). The only thing by Neil Gaiman I've read has been a couple of Sandman graphic novels, and those warranted only a giant "meh."

18 essay questions!?! What the hell is wrong with that professor? How long were the essays? Like the three blue-book pages long essays, or the long paragraph essays?

a friend of mine is really into discworld. i think they suck ass and reading anything that pratchett or gaimen writes makes me feel like the comic book guy from the simpsons. or neil from family guy.

about half were blue book 1-1.5 pages, the other half were blue book 3 pagers. it took me 1.75 blue books and 2 hours to complete. FOR AN INTRODUCTION TO ETHICS CLASS.

and we had to write 2 5 page papers and took 2 essay tests along with regular quizzes in section. FOR A 3 CREDIT HOUR INTRO ETHICS CLASS.

Hmm... you probably don't want to hear that my intro to ethics class only had a paper and no test as the final.

Ahhh...such a relief.
