You know all is right with the world when your oldest daughter IM's to say "I love you" and uses ALL CAPS, and the only reason they're shouting is they want to tell you how they feel.

Glad I could share. Even happier I received the IM.

I like to think I'm doing some things right, even if it's only to tell them I love them as often as I can.

Whatever else I have messed up, my children still hug me willingly and of their own volition. I'd say if yours are doing the same, or something similar, you're doing it right.

Nothing. That's the thing. She was heading to class and knows I'm always online while I'm at work (because we use IM for some interoffice communication), so she'll just pop on and give me random shots of joy. :-)

My eldest daughter sent me a text today, asking if I could join her for lunch. That was nice. I ended up buying lunch (no complaint) and lending her 640euros to pay her tax bill. Money isn't everything, but it sure keeps the kids in touch. :-)

I love my children; no matter how much they cost.

Now, my eldest boy (21), is the one who will give me a hug or a message of love/goodwill with no attached ulterior motive. That is really nice.
