The sun was beginning to set on another day at the castle.  The festival was still going strong, with games and food seemingly all around.  She took a long walk around the castle, quietly thankful that she was home - at least for a little while, anyway.

It had been a couple of days since she had last seen Clive - she hoped he was doing all right in ( Read more... )

In another part of the crowd Clive was making his way across the grounds. With his cloak left behind at the inn he couldn't help but feel awkward, bareheaded amidst the rest of the mob and nonplussed by all of the colour and activity. Elza managed to genuinely smile at him in spite of the fact that her mouth was full of cheesecake. Without drawing too much attention to herself, she nodded a return greeting as Clive approached.

"I didn't realize that we were coming back to a festival..." Elza looked around at all of the colorful booths and performers. "I kinda figured that after Caleria, we would need some time to get our bearings back." She looked at his leg and noticed that he was standing without any obvious discomfort. "How is your leg?"

Clive's perpetually serious expression lightened a little when he saw Elza smiling at him, and the serving of cake she had bought. Seeing her relaxed made him glad.

"It's a lot better," he said as he sat down on the edge of the fountain beside her. He stretched out his injured leg, resting his boot heel on the ground. He'd taken care to replace the bandages before he left the inn, but already the heat and swelling was much reduce, the ache dissipating.

He looked up and over at her. "It's fine to walk on anyway," he said, offering a small smile in return. "How about your shoulder? Is it all right...?"

"I have to rewrap it twice a day, but other than that, I'm doing fine. I just need to rest it for a bit, but no one said anything about not enjoying the festival for a bit." She finished off the rest of her cheesecake and looked at Clive. "Did you come out to enjoy the cheesecake or to check up on me?" she teased.

Clive coughed at that and drew back his leg, looking faintly embarrassed. "Well, I supposed I hadn't really thought of food when I left the inn," he admitted, reaching up to scrub one hand through his hair. "I guess I came out to see what was going on with this festival business... and to look for you."

He glanced at her askance, trying to remember when he had last seen her looking relaxed and smiling. "You look happy," he said. "It looks like you really are enjoying yourself here."
