[Having been unceremoniously dropped off at Ranka's house by Grace, Brera stood outside awkwardly. He understood his duties. He understood his desire to protect Ranka.

But he couldn't understand any of the other thoughts in his head. If Ranka didn't trust him, as Grace had said (and Grace must always be believed), then there was no point in his ( Read more... )

[ranka received a call from grace (currently on her way to book a performance to boost morale for the U.N. Spacy battalion on Island 3, she said) informing her that not only was brera back from his mission, he was waiting outside to be let in.

it was a good thing that the conversation was short or else she would have heard ranka flying down the steps and flinging open the door in a rather un-idol like fashion.] Brera! [she leaped over the last few steps separating the house from the street, beaming at him all the while.] You're back!

[the last time she'd seen him was before the mass outbreak of shadows on the community. the stiffness, quiet nature, hint of awkwardness had dimmed some in her mind. it didn't matter. brera was brera and brera was safe and that was what mattered. ranka continues to smile.] Grace had said you'd be back soon, but I didn't think it'd be this soon. No wonder Thompson-san went home this morning. How are you feeling?

[Feeling? How was he feeling?

Confused and distracted mostly, but he couldn't explain that to Ranka. And that wasn't really what she was asking, was it. No, he knew Grace's cover story for his... injuries. His absence.]

I am fully recovered and ready to continue my duties.
