Marie is doing better

Last night Marie got into a tussle with a lamp cord, and we thought she might have broken her tail. This morning she seems much better, but we took her to the vet to make sure. We got sent home with an anti-inflammatory medicine to squirt into her mouth once a day ( Read more... )

A similar thing happened to my mom's cat a while back, but it was more lower back so she was sort of dragging her back feet around for a while and refusing to move her bowels. The NSAIDS helped greatly, but when we did research on them it turned out that most NSAIDS are toxic to cats (like ibuprofen for example), and the ones that they have figured out for use in cats are dangerous for longish term use. We were afraid she had degenerative spinal problems and therefore would have to be on NSAIDS long term. Luckily her condition improved considerably after a week or so. Marie will probably be similar. Our cat still carries her tail weirdly, like it's semi-paralyzed but she seems fine otherwise.

Awww, poor kitty! I hope she feels all better soon. Scratch behind her ears for me.
