She'd rather have died by Kahlan's hand. One of the few persons she deemed worthy to kill her. So she did the next best thing and grabbed the Confessor's hand. If she couldn't die by Kahlan's touch, she wanted to die touching her.

I believe that captures perfectly the relationship between Kahlan and Cara at this point in the series. They started out as mortal enemies, but now respect each other and, as demonstrated in Desecrated, have moved beyond that to genuine caring for the other. Brava! :D
