Title: She's a Screamer

Pairing: Calleigh/Natalia, Calleigh/Eric friendship and some mentioning of past Cal/Sofia and Nat/Eric. Cake? No WAY!

Fandom: CSI: Miami mostly, a little x-over with CSI.

Rating: NC-17 eventually

Disclaimer:I don't own them. No money, yadda, yadda, yadda!

Spoiler: none for new episodes. Takes place somewhere after “Internal Affairs”

Warning: There's some mention of violence against women in this part as we learn more about Calleigh's and Natalia's past

Author's note(s): This is really just a little fun, because of this hideous You Tube Video lizadizzle  posted on duvista  and this insane sentence “She's a screamer“. Since no one stepped up to write a story about it, I had to do it on my own.

Summary: Cal and Eric get a little drunk and Eric spills the beans about his relationship with Nat. Calleigh decides to form her own opinion about that. A little trip down memory lane concerning Cal/Sofia. I took some liberties with their past concerning university. And then Calleigh invites Natalia for a weekend off.

A/N2: Sorry that this took me so long. I finished “The Barbie Murders” first. Updates should be more regular now.

Thanks: As always to my wonderful beta sofia_lindsay  who did her thing even if this is NOT CM.

They kept a light conversation going during dinner trading bites and pieces of their dishes with each other. Every now and then their hands would brush when they reached for some bread at the same time and every time it sent a bold of electricity through Natalia's body. She felt Calleigh look at her with an unreadable look a few times and she was certain that Calleigh knew that something was going on. But Calleigh didn't mention anything, she just kept the light conversation flowing seemingly totally relaxed and unsuspecting.

During their meal the small restaurant had emptied and when they were finished they were the only customers left. Carmen came to the table again to take away the empty plates.

“Anything else I can bring you ladies?”

“No thank you Carmen. If you just could call a cab for us?”

“Sure Calleigh.”

“And the check please.”

“No Calleigh. Poppa said to tell you it's on the house for you and your beautiful girlfriend. You know he won't take any money from you, so don't start arguing.”

“Fine.” Calleigh raised her hands in defeat. “I'll go to the bathroom for a minute Nat. Be right back. And Carmen, tell your poppa if he doesn't let me pay the next time I won't visit again.”

Calleigh stood up and left towards the back which left Natalia and Carmen alone in the front room. Natalia followed Calleigh with her eyes and was torn from her musings about that beautiful back of her friend by Carmen whispering.

“You must be a pretty special person to her.”

“Excuse me? What did you say?” Natalia wasn't sure if she understood what Carmen just said.

“I said, you must be someone special. She's never brought someone else here before. She always comes alone and talks to poppa and me. So I figure you must be rather dear to her. Don't hurt her.”

“I won't. I...” But Natalia couldn't finish because Calleigh came back to the front and Carmen vanished with their empty plates.

The blonde sat down again, drinking the rest of her wine.

“So what do you say? Isn't this place incredible?”

“Yes. It's wonderful. I think I've never tasted anything this good.” 'And I can only imagine one thing that could maybe compete...' “And I swear to God, if I eat anymore tonight I'll explode. What do you say we drive back to the hotel and take a little walk down the beach? I really need to stretch my legs a little.”

“Sounds good to me. The cab should be here any minute. I'll go back and say good-bye real quick okay.”

“Sure.”

Calleigh left for the back again giving Natalia the opportunity to think about what Carmen had said.

What did she mean Calleigh came always alone? She didn't doubt the girl's words but it really made her wonder. She knew Calleigh had had lovers, so why didn't she bring any of them here. And why did she bring her? It must be a friend's thing.

And then Calleigh was back and the cab was honking outside. Carmen came back to the front room and saw them.

“You two have a little fun tonight, you hear me Calleigh? It's a full moon tonight don't let it go to waste. And please you both come back here soon.”

Calleigh hugged the young woman tightly.

“We'll come by again as soon as possible, I promise.”

And then Natalia was taken by surprise by Carmen hugging her too, whispering into her ear. “Take good care of her.”

Natalia just smiled at the young woman and then they got into the car and drove off towards the hotel again.

“So what happened to Carmen? She and her father are really fond of you. That must have been something more than the usual rescue mission.”

“It was back when I just joined Horatio's team, our team. I had the weekend off and drove up here to celebrate my new job. I had left New Orleans and all my friends behind and had yet to make new ones in Miami. I stayed in the room we're staying right now. Actually I always try to stay in that room. It's the quietest room in the whole complex. Well I left the premises like we did today and walked along the foot of the cliff. The sun was about to set and it was already getting dark when I headed back. Suddenly I heard some struggle not too far away and a girl screaming for help though it was a little muffled like someone had a hand over her mouth or something. I took my gun out and sneaked closer. Finally I was able to see what happened.

There were three white guys, no more than 18 years old. Two of them were holding this Hispanic girl down, while a third was about to lower himself onto her. The girl was about to be raped by three guys. I couldn't see if they had any weapons on them and I couldn't simply shoot them. I had no cell on me so I couldn't call for back up.

So I identified myself and stepped forward. That's when it all went to hell. One of the guys drew a gun and started firing at me. I took a bullet to my shoulder before I shot him. One of the other two guys took a jab with something at that girl and then the two ran off. I wanted to go after them, but when I reached the girl I saw that she was bleeding heavily. So I ripped my shirt and patched her up as good as I could and carried her to my bungalow. From there I called the police and an ambulance. And that's all I remember from that night. I passed out beside her. The other two guys were arrested the next day. They tried to blame it on Carmen, she would have come on to them but due to my statement they got both 10 years in juvenile detention for abduction, attempted rape, attempted manslaughter and assault on a police officer. Without my statement they probably would have run free or wouldn't even been caught.”

Natalia listened to Calleigh's story and when she finished she was silent for a moment longer.

“So did you come just in time, or...?”

Natalia left the sentence hanging, she knew Calleigh would understand what she meant.

“I came just in time.” Calleigh nearly whispered. “But she nearly died in my arms, because they had really roughed her up. Luckily that guy was a crappy shot. It was a clean through and through and hit no major arteries. I was lucky. Carmen not so much. You've only seen the scar on her face. She has some more all about her body.”

“Fuck. But that was really heroic of you Cal.”

“Nah. It was totally stupid, I almost got myself killed. Going alone against three without back up. Insane, reckless and stupid.”

“Well, what other choice did you have? You never could have left her like that to go and call for help. By the time you would've been back it would have been way too late. You never would have forgiven yourself.”

Calleigh was about to speak up, but Natalia didn't let her.

“No, no arguing about it. You did the only thing you could have done. Look we're at the hotel. Let's get out and sit for a moment. I'll tell you something about stupid.”

Calleigh paid their fare and they both sat down on a bench in front of the hotel.

Natalia took Calleigh's hands in hers and looked her into the eyes.

“Lemme tell you something and then you'll see what stupid really means.”

Calleigh simply nodded and Natalia started talking.

“Since you shared some of your secrets with me today I think it's time I tell you a secret of my own. And I'm not proud of it.

You remember Nick, right?”

Calleigh nodded. “Sure. That son of a bitch made your life a living Hell.”

“Well let's start at the beginning. I was pretty young when I first met Nick. He was the kind of guy your parents always warned you about. He had this wild side, kind of a little dangerous. I totally tell for him at once. And we had a lot of fun together. We were reckless, we did a lot of things that were all kinds of wrong. Nick made my life an adventure movie and we were the heroes. When my parents found out we were dating, they totally flipped and forbid me to see him again. Needless to say I didn't follow and saw him any way as often as possible. I ditched classes, sneaked out the window at night, vanished for some days even, just to be with him.

I knew he wasn't the kind of guy I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. He was no husband material. He was reckless, criminal, had a temper and drunk. But back then I thought everything would be okay as long as we were together. And then I decided to marry him just to piss of my parents and have them off my back. I loved Nick but I knew it was the wrong thing to do. I did it anyway. Well you know the rest. And you know what the funny part is? Do you know who helped me get away from him? My parents. They love me so much they forgave me and even saved me. I felt pretty stupid then and still do now. So don't tell me anything about stupid okay?”

Calleigh didn't say anything for a while, her face unreadable for Natalia. But then a bright smile spread across her face.

“Well, I'm glad your parents love you so much and helped you get away from him. Why don't we agree that we both did something pretty stupid back in the days and leave it at that?”

“Sounds like a plan. So what you say. Stroll along the beach?”

Calleigh nodded and both women got up. Still holding each other’s hand they headed towards the beach from their hotel.

They crossed the now empty lobby, there was only the night porter at the reception, no one else was to be seen. When they exited the main building on the beach side they were surprised by music playing at the beach.

Natalia was giddy all of a sudden.

“Come on Cal, it's a beach party. Let's check it out.”

Calleigh smiled at the childlike glimmer in Natalia's eyes. “Sure, let's go.” She couldn't deny Natalia anything when she looked like this.

They strolled towards the beach, their fingers still interlaced, looking forward to what might wait for them once they reached the beach. They left the last palms and bushes behind them and stopped dead in their tracks. There was a large bonfire burning at the beach, several torches were driven into the sand around a make shift wooden dance floor. There were tables and chairs put up around it and off to one side was a bar with a barbecue. Paper lanterns were strung across and along the dance floor which were providing a warm light all over. Several pairs were moving on the dance floor and almost every table was occupied.

“Wow. Look at this Calleigh. How did they set that up so quick? There was no sign of things when we left earlier.”

“Your guess is as good as mine. They probably do this fairly regularly and have some kind of routine going. Come on let's see if we can seize a table.”
