Hello! We love Stephen too. You should read the books! The movie is wonderful, but the books are even more so! And since this little community is rather quiet, and since you like fanfic, you might like to join perfect_duet and watch announcements on despatches. I'm not a fanfic fan, but there's lots of it out there.

Enjoy the new Stephen love!

thanks for the welcome! The Perfect_duet is cool! thanks for recommending it!!! same with the Dispatches!
I plan to get the 1st book soon, but i got the wrong one on accident at Borders, so i'm going to have to return it and get the other one.
i was not a big fan of fanfic for a while, but i got started on writing some, and got into it. blame some friends for that... lol
again, thanks for the warm welcome!

Yay! Someone posted here! This comm seems to go through dry spells, so it's always nice to posts, especially by new members.

I absolutely second what Grace_Poppy says and recommend that you pick up the books; if you think you like Stephen now, just wait. He's even more lovable in print. I used to commute a lot by train and started listening to the books on cd (read by Patrick Tull) and I can't praise them enough (and I once swore I'd never listen to a recorded book!). You can buy them at Borders, but they can be pricey...maybe you'll get lucky and find them at a local library!

The book order can be confusing; this list may help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrey%E2%80%93Maturin_series

Also, a great and very helpful companion book is Harbors and High Seas by Dean King. It's an atlas, broken up by book, of Jack and Stephen's adventures around the world. Useful if your geography has gotten rusty ;)
