It's one of my favorite books. It's entirely possible that, with a little thought, I could produce entire passages from memory. This worries me.

Me too. Maybe we should meet someday and recite bits to each other. Much nicer than doing Monthy Python sketches (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I managed 14/29 which shocks me as I only *knew* the answer to one question. The rest was total fluke.

You're a much better guesser than I am: I knew five (and no, the Matthew Reilly wasn't one of them).

I knew Mark Twain and could sort of work my way through the list with Lovecraft because it seemed Lovecraftian in nature.

I got 19 out of 29. It should have been 20, but I changed one answer and the original response was the right one.

Be fair on yourselves, people. This list is made up of stuff that only dedicated readers of "literary fiction" and books that are nominated or have won important literay prizes, have read. I did better 'cause I work in a library. If this was a science fiction/fantasy based list, you would have all blitzed it.

Number 1 is "Moominvalley in November" by Tove Jansson.

Are you a Moomin fan?

I should have recognized that. I went through a serious Moomin period in middle school.

Glad to hear it. Did you know there is a Moomin theme park in Finland?

Jack_Ryder and I went to the Asterix theme park in France, so I have to go to this one. Someday.

crashed and burned doing the Guardian's World Book Day Quiz

My God. I got 15, and all but four of those were guesses. Clearly some vague fragment of studying for the SATs remains lodged in my hindbrain.
