End of Year Meme

January

Pace dear Edgar, December wasn't at all bleak.

February

I've been teaching, working on Immunity (roughly half-waythrough the first draft), and reading stories for the Bram StokerAward, so I only managed to finish and submit one new piece last month,an article for Pyramid (published yesterday).

March

February is the shortest month, breeding
Two articles in Pyramid, mixing
Three new submissions1 and one rejection2, stirring
Me to send two synopses with opening chapters to an agent.

April

There is a sort-of-tradition, dating back to Swancon 3, that I will receive something shortly after Swancon
that I would dearly have liked to show off at Swancon - a publication, a pretty cheque, some good news, something of that nature.

May

A wonderful night at the movies, from the trailers for The Dark Knight Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Incredible Hulk, through to the glee-inducing extra scene after the credits.

June

May was a month insanely crammed with deadlines.

July

From the SMH (yes, I double-checked to make sure it wasn't The Onion
): the NSW government has introduced draconian new laws, making it illegal to annoy or inconvenience Catholics
during World Youth Day.

August

Once More With Pictures )

September

August went better than expected, writing-wise: I wrote two new stories and finished a third, wrote an article for Pyramid, and submitted another three stories for reprint/translation.

October

Cathy Wilcox on the financial crisis.

November

It's been a good month for me, publication-wise, with new stories in Canterbury 2100 and Scary Food (both launched at ConFlux, which unfortunately I was unable to attend, and both available from planetfantastic) and Midnight Echo
.

December

As some of you may know or have guessed, at this time of year I tend to turn into a Grinch, and sometimes my answers to the question "What do you want for Christmas?" are less than helpful.
