That was really beautifully done. I just graduated with a film degree (not in editing!) and one of the projects the editing folks had to do was re-edit an existing movie trailer to make it a different genre - while not exactly the same thing, this vid easily matches them for quality and pacing and story and clever use of source material.
(I don't mean to be all 'I am a film student, so I KNOW' I just mean - some of my fellow students were really crazy talented and this is right up there with what they might have produced after a couple of years of classes. Using Final Cut Pro and nice modern Macs that mostly behave themselves. ;) )
Lovely. Except now I kind of want the holmes big bang version of the movie instead of The Hobbit... *g*
Aw, thank you. That means a lot to me. I have seen some pretty damn impressive fan-made trailers that change the genre of a movie or combine shots from different movies and I don't think this thing of mine is really at that caliber at all, but your comment gives me hope that I could get there with more practice (and maybe better software, if I could get the money for it somehow). So, thank you.
I'd be pretty excited for a Holmesian version of The Hobbit myself, but I'll settle for Tolkien's story. ;)
(And for the record, my flippant icon is directed at myself, not you.)
Well, you'll ALWAYS think you could've done better than what you did, as far as I can tell. (I'm one of those weird people who likes to produce, so I was always the one telling people that it was GOOD ENOUGH ALREADY AND BY THE WAY IT'S DUE IN THREE HOURS
( ... )
AHHH! I think I just died. You just combined my ultimate favorite fandom with another of my favorite fandoms. I can't wait to read the story now!!! Lovely and cleverly constructed video, my dear. I'm convinced this should exist. (as I'm pining away awaiting the arrival of Sherlock season 2 and the Hobbit....) sigh.
a;slfjaskf Just saw your comment now -- sorry! And thank you! What a nice comment to receive! I'm very happy that you enjoyed it. my ultimate favorite fandom with another of my favorite fandoms -- that was pretty much my reaction to the fic I chose as my inspiration. I'm glad that you enjoyed the result. There are a lot of technical failings in this video that bug me, but overall, I think it gets across what I was hoping it would and if you all like it, that's good enough for me. :)

Yes, me too. I've been watching all the Hobbit behind-the-scenes tidbits on YT and it looks very promising. :)
