vimeo Summary: (I'm never sure if I should write a summary or just let the video speak for itself. But. Here's what's what...)
When Watson gets engaged, it triggers anxieties on Holmes' part about where the two of them stand. Holmes is in love with Watson, but feels that it's one-sided (or at least that he wants more than Watson is willing or able to give). As a result, he becomes jealous, bitter and resentful. But... he can't really stay angry at Watson. He has to recognize how Watson proves his friendship and devotion repeatedly. Regardless of whether or not Watson gets married, they ultimately both recognize that what they have is uniquely awesome. (Which is all, arguably, exactly what happens in the movie -- a certain reading of it, anyway.)
Lyrics:
Can you lie next to her
And give her your heart
As well as your body?
And can you lie next to her
And confess your love
As well as your folly?
And can you kneel before the king
And say I'm clean?
Chorus:
But tell me now,
where was my fault
In loving you
with my whole heart?
A white blank page
and a swelling rage
You did not think
when you sent me to the brink
You desired my attention
but denied my affection
Chorus
Lead me to the truth and I
will follow you with my whole life
