A week of birthdays, sand pits, novelettes and more

Hurrah! I finished my romantic YA gothic fantasy novelette at last! "House of Secrets" (a veeery tentative working title) is about 12,000 words, and I wrote the last line last night, which felt deeply satisfying. This is my birthday week - I'll turn 38 in a few days - and it's nice to have finished something new just beforehand ( Read more... )

Yay for finishing, and happy early birthday!! Huzzah all around. :)

(I just read Naomi Novik's Uprooted, catapulted up the TBR by your recommendation and the description, and *what* a great read. I lved it.)

Thank you so much for the finishing congrats and the early birthday wishes! And thank you SO MUCH for the beta-offer! Right now it's still so rough that I'd hate to inflict it on anyone (there's something off about the ending, and I can't put my finger on what it is, but I can FEEL the wrongness, so I'm going to take a month off and then read it again to try to fix that part before showing it to anyone else), but once I've got a draft that doesn't totally embarrass me, I would love to take you up on that offer! :)
