Awe, Panic, and Wonder

Oof. I can't believe I have a nearly-four-year-old son! MrD and I are reading Laura Ingalls Wilder's On the Banks of Plum Creek together right now, and he's even starting to read a few of the words himself. How did that happen???

My birthday party approach goes like this: "Did I buy some presents? Can I buy a cake somewhere? Did I invite someone? Okay, we're good to go!" Also, oddly enough it seems to get much easier when the kids get dropped off and the parents leave. Kids don't care if your house is clean.

Truly, Steph, every single year I say to myself, "Wow, here's one thing I thought would be hell for 18 years, and now it's gone!" I mean obviously there are new things. :) But they're different!!

Don't be so hard on yourself! Mr. D. is still likely in the stage where, if you bought him the most enormous toy in the world, he'd just be obsessed with the box. And I love your lines over the short story. :-)
