Excuses, favorites, and an ARC giveaway

Sorry for the radio silence, guys! Things are a bit tough here at the moment in terms of health and energy. Because of my CFS, our usual state of play is for Patrick to do all the housework, dog-care, and at least half the childcare, which leaves me with enough energy to do half the childcare, write fiction, write lots of emails and a couple of ( Read more... )

In my world, an "excuse" is something you make to get out of having done something wrong, or to get out of doing something you have to/want to do.

I object to your using "excuses" in your subject line, damnit!

You are doing amazing things, which need no excuses.

Seriously, you are doing so much.

Today, I will be inordinately proud of myself if I merely change the catboxes.

Considering how much else you've been doing lately, I will consider you a star even if you DON'T change the catboxes!

So sorry to hear that CFS has been bothering you. I have Fibromyalgia (related, I think), and I have many days where it's difficult to do anything physical. Much love and hugs sent out to you. <3.

As for a favourite historical time period? That's hard. It changes every so often, I think. I love Victorian era, Napoleonic era, etc. But I'm starting to love settings that might not be seen as historical yet, but that I wasn't alive for (Like the '60s).

Thanks so much for the good wishes. I think you're right that CFS and Fibromyalgia are related - all my empathy to you... *hugs*

And good point about what makes a historical period...you are hereby entered in the giveaway! :)

I'm so sorry Patrick's still under the weather, and sorrier still that CFS is making things such a struggle. I wish we lived closer, and that I weren't so much at sizes and sevens with this move, so I could offer you an afternoon or two of babysitting. Or at least make you something nice to nibble on...

Please don't worry for a minute about not blogging more often. Your entries are always worth the wait -- even when you're not offering goodies like a Marie Brennan ARC!

I am a sucker for good historical fantasy of just about any period and place, and I was really impressed by *Midnight Never Come*. But I especially love the 17th and 18th centuries precisely because of the intersection of science and myth, so this new book sounds like a must-read.

So, fairies discussing politics and a dragon causing Halley's Comet just sent my nerdy bookish heart a-racing. CAN I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HAVE THIS BOOK?!

My favorite historical period is actually the 1940s - mainly because it was such an intense time in history, what with WWII going on, but it was also a time of great hope and faith and optimism. Also, I have a secret passion for clothing and music from that period. :)
