Lucidity

...

She suspected that some people would think her situation very strange. But she didn't, and that's all that mattered.

Some people would think what she had just done was wrong. But she didn't, and that's all that mattered.

There were so many other, worse things people could do, she didn't think that helping her friends realise their feelings for each other was a bad thing in any way.

She had always known that he had feelings for another, even for the short time they had been together. They had sort of fallen together in the madness of the end of the war, both not really knowing how to help or what to do, but doing the little they could to help in some way.

As they had made love he had closed his eyes against hers, and she knew why. He apologised to her over and over, but she just held him and comforted him as tears left his eyes.

Tonight it had been different though, because there was someone else there with them. The true object of his affections.

She imagined it was quite hard to admit you had feelings for your best friend, especially when the some of the world around you weren't very accepting of that type of relationship.

She had to admit she had planned it, although she never really had the minute details all sorted out, where was the fun in that, after all?

Two simple invitations and a charmed bottle of Firewhiskey did the trick, although she may have to deny the fact that the drink was charmed.

She looked to the left of her and saw the two of them lying there, one arm draped over the other's waist and both looking so very content. She rolled onto her side and blinked when a pair of blue eyes looked back at her.

'Hello,' she said quietly.

'Er…hi,' Seamus replied.

'How did you sleep?'

'Fine…thanks.'

'Would you like me to leave?' she asked lightly.

'Well…I…do you want to leave?' he replied.

'I don't really mind either way, both leaving and staying will bring an interesting day. I'm up early enough to appreciate the song of the hollow-tonsilled chisel warbler.'

'Right, okay, um…right.'

She sat up.

'I shall leave you two alone, you have to talk about last night and what it means for you from now on.'

'Fer feck's sake, Luna, ye could give a fella a break first thing in the mornin'!'

'But it's important, for both you and Dean that you talk about what happened between you!'

'You were involved as well, ya know!'

'I know I was, but I'm not anymore, and that's okay. It was always about the two of you and the way you felt for each other. You just didn't know it at the time. Hopefully you do now.'

Seamus shuffled so he was propped up on his elbow facing Dean.

'Yeah…I think…I think we do.'

'Good. Then I will leave you alone.'

Seamus half nodded and swallowed hard.

She picked up her clothes off the floor and turned to look at the two of them.

'Whaddif he decides it was all a mistake?' Seamus said in a whisper.

She tilted her head to the side and looked at Seamus through wide eyes.

'Why do you think he'll decide that?'

'I don't, it's just, it's happened so fast, an'…what is he regrets it all?'

'Believe me, Seamus, this hasn't happened fast at all for him. He's been waiting a long time for this. He won't let you go very easily.'

Seamus nodded and watched as Luna turned to leave the room.

'Luna,' he said a little louder than he wanted. He checked Dean was still sleeping before turning back to her. 'Thanks for…this…you know…what you did.'

'I didn't do anything, Seamus.'

Seamus smiled.

'I know there was somethin' going on with the whiskey I was drinkin' last night. I know my alcohol, and that was not how Firewhiskey is supposda taste. How did you come up with that?'

'I find, Seamus, that my thoughts are most lucid after orgasm. You should see if yours are as well. Goodbye Seamus. Goodbye Dean.'
