Yeah, and no matter what he has, he complains about it. This is the original pessimist, but he's gradually turning around -- he's able to do things like make her a cappucino and approach her when she's in a terrible mood, even if he isn't able to take the simple expedient of sticking around to keep her from falling into that mood in the first place. At least now he's not basing every decision on a fear of being dumped.

Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

House does not just want to have his cake and eat it too, he wants EVERYONE's cake. He wants the stability of an established domestic relationship but not the (as he sees it) consequent loss of passion; he wants Cuddy to appreciate his efforts with Rachel but he dislikes being twinkled at or condescended to; he wants to make the choices about how he spends his free time that only single men usually enjoy, and to have free rein on Cuddy's household; he wants to watch porn whenever he's bored or horny, with so much of the exclusivity of marriage that Cuddy can't so much as look at another man without getting his hackles up; he hates it when Wilson chooses his Skirt du Jour over House, but he'll throw Wilson under the bus for Cuddy (or Rachel) without a second thought. And of course, he wants April to stay, but he cannot bring himself to tell her so. I love House, but let's be honest, he's a little bit of a brat ( ... )

Thanks.

Maybe I should post pictures of the Twenty Vicodin sweater, It feels more productive to knit during House, and it's definitely more relaxing than devoting all my attention to the show, and I knew what to expect from spoilers, anyway.

Heh. The "Mom does all the dirty work" rant. Wonder how House is going to deal with Cuddy's denial on Rachel growing up.
Also, I love Chase's final choice.

Chase probably not only wants to torture House -- he's getting even for House sending April away -- with a nurse, an ethicist, and an evangelical Christian -- he probably thinks it would be interesting to watch House vivisect them.

Thank you for alleviating some of the trauma of my recent Giant Spider In the Hallway Oh God Make It Go Away incident with the humor of that birth control bit.

I think if House has any real academic failings (obviously I'm not putting common sense in that category), it's that he clearly flunked geometry. The concept of a straight line being the best way to get from A to B is clearly beyond him.

Oh man, it really is traumatic right? My housemate has had to get rid of 4 massive spiders in the last few days and now I'm terrified to be in my own house.

But updates always make my day better :) love the H/W dialogue and the prospect of stage 6

Yeah, I'm a little concerned I may have caused some neurological damage to the kitten given how much Raid I used in my spider-hunting quest. It's hard to tell, she wasn't too bright to begin with.

When Wilson is right, he's right. (Of course when he's wrong, he's REALLY wrong, but that's what makes him interesting.)

Wonderful House-Wilson dialogue in this chapter. Cuddy's passive-aggressive resentment of House's ability to escape from the post holiday chores is so familiar and true to life regardless of these individuals' personalities! Ouch.
Looking forward to the grovelling....

House can be incredibly dense about himself sometimes, but he does (occasionally, and between snarks and deflections) listen to Wilson.
