later olympias all seem to have such a utilitarian body... no flare, nothing but a frame to hold the keys. good machines but, y'know, i like a certain amount of grace if it is going to hold my fingers... utilitarianism is for economists and secretaries. what will you be doing with your typer?

Utilitarianism is beauty through both exterior simplicity and interior reliability. Grace is for the bourgeois losers who feel their life needs to be filled with empty grace. I'd take a VW thing to a Hummer 2 any day.

I'd say go for picture #2

Shut up Ken.
We're talking about typewriters.

I plan to use my typer for the same things I always do. Mostly my zines, and other writing. If I happen to become and economist or secretary in the meantime, then you'll know which one I'll be using.

ah, how cute...
someone who has no idea what "utilitarianism" is... i knew i'd run into one of the three people left on earth ignorant of it someday. love it. there is no beauty in utility. only function. grace is the VW, the original Hummer serves for utility only. you fucked it up, slick.
granted, the H2 has a truck chasey and is no more effective than a straight F-10 for most situations so... maybe it's a compromise between elegance and utility but, y'know--- no, you don't. you were just commenting for the sake of commenting. i agree with the girl:
Shut up Ken.
damned kids.
anyway-
like typers no matter the form they take. there was an IBM SELECTRIC at St. Vinney's last week... good for 'zines. you can replace the fonts on them easily- was the ideal for 'zines of the 80's.
good to see there are others out there
