Most of the time I think Sorkin's West Wing with it's good and honest politicians in politics to make the world a better place for everybody is pure fiction with no connection to real life and then your president goes and does something like that! Thank you for posting that. The part that really gets me is: These issues affect not only the LGBT community, but also our entire Nation. As long as the promise of equality for all remains unfulfilled, all Americans are affected. This is something I strongly believe. Equality and fairness is important to all of us, not just those specifically being discriminated against.

And I can say, yeah, that's my president, because it finally really feels like it. And I absolutely agree that equality and fairness are things that are important to all of us, because whether we're the ones being discriminated against us, the lack of those things cheapens and devalues all of us. And having them -- fighting for them -- enriches us and makes us stronger.
