ficathon pimping & still trying to think positive

medie is running The First Annual "Because We Are Awesome" Drabble-A-Thon, inspired by the "Fuck you, she's awesome!" meme that was going around a week or so back. It's multi-fandom and is all about celebrating the awesome women characters in the media we love, and can be het, gen, and/or girlslash ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear today was a rough day. Hope tomorrow improves. :)

How are you liking Harrowing the Dragon? I enjoyed some of the stories, but couldn't make it through the whole book. Later era McKillip frequently feels like word porn to me.

Thanks! The entire week ended up being just as awful, but I'm trying to tell myself that things will be looking up this week.

Some of Harrowing the Dragon I like a lot, and other stories, like you, I haven't been able to get through -- there was more than one that I got a few pages into and then just gave up on. But the ones I enjoyed -- including the title story and "Lady of the Skulls" -- were very good.

Quiet moments like that are wonderful, like informal meditation with no expectations and no pressure to "succeed" :)

I really love those kind of quiet moments, and there are never anywhere near enough of them.

The whole meditation thing is something I'm working on, because I'm *terrible* at it. I want to get better, though, because I know it would be a good thing.

Sorry you had bad day... :-( Breathe. Let go. You're fantastic. (remember how you always tell me that I think too much, or don't think enough of what I do? don't do it yourself.)

Thinkin about doing that positive thingy, got michelle to, cause she likes those things.

Went walkin-- went farther than ever, (all the way to the flashing light and back! dunno if you know where that is) LOVED it, but busted the shit out of my feet. Bad. Giant blisters and friction burns on the balls of my feet-- even the BLANKET touching them makes them hurt. Must get new hiking boots-- pretty sure that's the culprit-- these too big. (and forget about going tomorrow too, which bites, because I'm otherwise quite fine. and could use it, considering I have to deal with Dad tomorrow. Double urgh.)

I know. I'm a dork. Your dork.

2 weeks! ZOMG!

I'm trying really hard to breathe and to let go of everything that happened last week. I'm also trying to tell myself that this is the start of a new week and that things will be better. (So far, so good, but I'm still kind of wound up.)

You really should join us in doing the think positive thing. It's a good project to participate in.

Just ten more days!

Things will be better this week, am sure. Your comment catchup makes me think things were at least better enough for you to appear some. :-) (I have gotten to point of expereince that I can interpret certian things that others might miss, I think.)

Keep waffeling about joining-- notwithstanding split journals, and needing to revive the other one.

9 days... excitement excitement excitment :-D (a bit of trepidation about a few things, but hopefully not too much)

*cheers* go you for finding a few minutes in your day to take a few moments to enjoy a book, the sun, and appreciate the life around you. :)

Thanks! I'm starting to understand more and more that these kind of small, quiet moments are really valuable, and I need to remember that, and not dismiss their importance to my overall emotional wellbeing. They're a big part of keeping myself centered.
