Doctor Who, "Gridlock" (and a brief note about my shoes)

Jul 23, 2007 22:48

We all got an e-mail at work today announcing a building-wide fire drill tomorrow, which we of course have to participate in, and since the timing is meant to be a surprise, they also can't tell us exactly when it's going to happen. The e-mail also specifies that women should wear flat shoes ( Read more... )

I don't find the idea of gridlock so bad that it takes six years to go ten miles to be all that far-fetched, actually.

LMAO! When I first watched the ep, I made a comment about not understanding what the big deal was.

Word is it's supposed to be muggy again tomorrow, and by Friday it's supposed to be hideous. Glad I'll be in San Diego by then.

Seriously! That there? That's L.A. in ten years. We won't even need any kind of undercity/overcity split or sudden global plague for it to become reality.

Gah. So. Muggy. Just walking outside is oppressive. At least they got the AC in the office working, finally.

And have fun at Comic Con, btw!

I'm guessing that will be the 405/101 exchange in ten years.

I'm working from home today (in between watching Jon Stewart) and have the air cranked up.

Thanks!

Oh, the pilot!cat dude was great. I'd love to see him and the missus pop up again sometime. I also really like seeing the development of the relationship between the Doctor and Martha -- as determined as he seems to be to not get emotionally involved again, he's still willing to risk everything to save her.

And the Face of Boe: I've kindasorta read spoilers about him. *ahem*

I totally agree about Gridlock. Doctor with kittens! :: points to icon :: The moment with the hymn was very nice, too.

The next bunch of episodes are not my favorites, although all of them have something I like in them. (Tallulah!) But I'll be interested to hear what you think when you get to Human Nature/Family of Blood.

I watched Blink again last night and it is STILL SCARY. Oh, and if you can get your hands on it, the Confidential that goes with that one is well worth watching in its entirety, not the 10 minute version that will be on the DVD.

Icon love! Doctor with kittens was an absolutely classic moment. And I liked the singing of the hymn, too.

scarletts_awry was dropping hints last night about some of the good stuff that's coming up after the next couple of Daleks-centric episodes, and I am really, really looking forward to all of it. Hell, I'm giddy in advance for tonight's "Daleks in Manhattan" ep, just because it's more Doctor for me to watch.

And "Blink" sounds really good. They do scary well. I saw the opening of "The Doctor Dances" on one of the local PBS stations the other night, and even with the terrible reception on that particular channel, the whole "The tape ran out" bit made my hair stand on end.

that sounds really pretty.

Oh and you were totally there with me in spirit when I was shoe shopping for the wedding. I love shoes, but I hate shopping for them - if that makes sense.

I ended up getting these. Comfortable and fun.

I love the t-shirt dress. It's cute, and it's really comfortable, too, which is great in the middle of a heatwave. Very easy dressing.

Oh, super-cute shoes! I like those a lot. And I'm very glad I could be there with you in spirit. It can be fun, but it can also be really stressful, which is why a lot of times I end up doing my shopping through Zappos. Much less pressure. (I am currently coveting these.)

cute and comfortable, magic words.

Love those shoes. I do a fair bit online but I had to find comfortable shoes since I'm in the wedding and wanted to try them on. Plus, credit slip :) Those shoes, funky silver post-gym flip flops and addidas socks (3 pk) and I still couldn't spend $36. I like days like that.
