The Passion and the waiting

Feb 29, 2004 00:40

I have yetto talk to a non-Christian who has seen The Passion.I'm wondering if some of the Christians aren't getting caught up in emotionalism but that's just my cynicism of hollywood kicking in. I have to go see it before I say anything. I've been reserved in my outward expression of Christ these days, can't say it's a good thing, but sobbing in ( Read more... )

If I could just taste one sip of an answer,
Maybe I could break out of this drunkard's prison.
I'm homesick for a place I might have never seen.
Something more than these old feet brought me here,
So these feet can't take me away.
No I didn't get here on my own,
Whoever brought me here's gonna have to bring me home.

I'm a thousand miles from the chimera I chase.
Home is a sadness, not a place.

Sorry I just feel so disenchanted with the church and the methods of Christianity right now. And I'm going to unload it sooner or later. I just can't get past some things anymore. The fanaticism that turns everyone off of it, the disunity in the church and apparent hypocrisy from leaders to pew warmers. The insensitivity of these people to those around them and the spiritual needs of others. The old evangelistic methods that keep plugging away at the intentions of Christians and desensitizing the public to the gospel message. The eagarness of the church to pass off the great comission on YWAM or a movie. And the general break down that leads to leagalism or laziness in Christians.
Perhaps I'm just frustrated at myself and taking it out on a religious system that was never meant to be perfect becuase only God can be perfect. But that's how I feel.

Thanks for listening, sorry about that
Stef

Look around you and see if there are any people Satan is using to disenchant you from Christianity. If there are, stay away from them, or tell them what you believe. be bold. be strong.

this movie is HARD stef. Its brutal. I left the theater shaking after seeing what Christ did for us. To think he did it for me is too humbling for words. You'll like the movie I'm sure. Also, when the church lets you down remember to focus on the real leader of the church, cause Jesus will never let you down. One love.

I stumbled onto your page. All I have to say is DONT GIVE UP!

I feel God telling me to tell you this. I wouldnt have stumbled on you otherwise. God is there for you in every area of your life. Just seek his face, read his word, and ask him to be near you.

The Passion is an awesome movie. I too have felt my heart being hardened every so often....seeing it reminds you of what Christ did for us. Do not give up on Christ, he is everything to everyone.

In Christ,

Dave
