it's cold and windy again. fuck u, minnesota. i don't need this downer in my life

so at this point i need to start narrowing the scope of my thesis wrt what i'm gonna talk about at the conference, and since pretty much everyone else on my panel is talking about god/christianity or ethics, i'm stuck between:
  • the part about death as a god-the-father ( Read more... )

I actually think Death as a father figure is a fascinating subject, and one of the more original aspects of the SPN canon...

i love it, i'm obsessed with it, especially in the context of 9.01. but all the notes i have for that are....mostly wild extrapolation and my own personal interpretation of the relationships b/w death and sam and death and dean, and there's less, like, concrete evidence to support it. hmm

Oh, the weather outside is frightful.....MN, arghhh.

I'm not sure which conference you are going to be talking at, but I think Death is one of the more interesting characters SPN has created. The whole 'one day I'll reap God' discussion made me think a lot. He has a really interesting relationship with the Winchesters in that even though he tells Dean he's like insignificant snarky bacteria, he still finds them to be worth working with. Or at least, not smiting them. He's one of very few characters that have told Sam he has done well. I hope you post some of what you do present here. It sounds pretty cool.

(it's the celebration of supernatural colloquium in chicago ;U;; if you're anywhere nearby, you should cooooome)

yeah, the more i think about it, the more i'm leaning towards that...i did finally WRITE that section of the paper last night, too, so it's more concrete now.

iirc there'll be audio recording (maybe??) of the panel and if there is i'll certainly post it here! and otherwise my advisor wants to get the paper published, so if that happens you can bet your ass there'll be a link <3
