I can only imagine how difficult it would be to dissociate your historical characters from the source that introduced you to them. O_o;; Definitely an interesting undertaking, though; as you go through more drafts of the novel, I'd be interested in hearing more about that process.
And I love the excerpt! As a reader I felt completely immersed in the narrator's tightly-wound headspace here, trying to retain balance in the face of such a meeting.
it's VERY WEIRD. im blessed with an intro source that is fairly well-researched, and access to some primary sources that help to balance. but i cant shake the nagging feeling that im writing fic. LMAO. we'll see how it goes i guess??
