Also--forgot to mention this over on AO3--love the details of Eileen being able to lip-read English but not Gaelic, and of her liking how there's writing everywhere in America.

I share Eileen's love of print ephemera and culture--and her wistfulness about traveling the US! And I love the way you've hinted at so much about Lillian and Eileen's relationship, and Lillian trying so hard to foster a national love in Eileen's heart that simply wasn't to be, for so many reasons. <3 Gorgeous.

And Sam's answer to her question is perfect, the way it wends back to the difference in her postcard perspective of Ireland vs. her shotgun scenery of the US.
