This is so lovely. What I love most most most about this fic is Sam expecting that one day this place won't satisfy, won't be good anymore--that there is some point at which this becomes dread and disappointment--but that moment never comes. It actually all stays pretty good, quite enjoyable. There actually, for once, isn't this moment where there's another shoe that needs to drop, artifice to be dismayed by, etc. And I just love that whole sentiment so, so much--if there's a stage of storytelling/life that's too idealistic to be true; and then there's another one that insists on/defends itself by insisting on pessimism; and finally this piece, which does neither. Has neither a happy ending or a tragic ending because there is no ending at all; and these two weeks will last forever.
