It's always hard to know whether a post fails to get views because of its intrinsic dullness or because of some algorithmic glitch. I didn't see it! Just tweeted your excellent (if depressing) post to the three people who actually read my Twitter feed.

I find it depressing because I know that people of whatever leanings are not monoliths, but it feels like betrayal when fellow lefties spout invidious crap.

It sure is a tricky one. Question - in your opinion, how many TG are there? (I mean 1%, 5%, 0.1%?) ROGD, I had a questionnaire to fill in (out?) A few pithy comments (asked about masculinity, all the men in my family boxed.) I opined that the Ghey murder was a hate crime.

Somewhere between A and B would be my guess. It's probably one of those things like left-handedness, where incidence increases (or appears to) with social acceptability - not because of 'contagion' but because people are less afraid of losing their friends and family if they come out. But, as with left-handedness, there's an upper limit.
