Allen was restless. Just lying in the uncomfortable bed and feeling the silence pressing around him made him want to go somewhere else. Each new movement brought pain shooting up his leg and a pained noise to escape his strained throat. He'd already promised to remain in bed to someone so he knew he should keep it for the time being.

The power that he'd unleashed during the "therapy" with Mayuri and Paul had vanished, leaving him weaker than he was used to. He wasn't used to being collared like this, knowing it would help him more if he wasn't. Of course, he had to remind himself it had only been a few hours since then. It felt like an eternity already, one of lying in pain and confusion.

Hearing footsteps outside his door, Allen sat up slowly. When he heard the voice, he smiled, glad to hear someone familiar. "Rin," he called out softly. "I'm in here."

That was Allen's voice. Rin promptly whisked herself into the room; better than standing like a boob out in the hall, waiting to be accosted or attacked or asked what her business was. Never mind that her business was her business; it was better to keep these things on the down-low, for the most part.

Once inside, she blinked and had to look again. His white hair was for a moment unpleasantly reminiscent of Shira, for a moment, but the physique it topped was nothing like her old enemy's. Allen was built rather thin, and significantly smaller than the man who'd so easily thrown her around just a couple of weeks ago. A red mark twisted down his face like a tribal tattoo, and his arm looked like he'd dipped it in blood, stopping just above the elbow.

Well, it was a damn sight better than sharpened prongs of bone, that was for sure.

He was strange looking. Not as frightening as she'd thought he might be from his quiet voice over the intercom. Rin narrowed her eyes just a tad and stepped briskly over to his bedside, preferring ( ... )

It had been a long time since he'd gotten that look. He watched Rin's eyes trail down to that arm, still bared since he didn't bother to get new clothes for the day quite yet. He knew that it wasn't out of fear but it held a bit of shock. Fortunately, he was used to it and he simply smiled back at her, glad to see the one who owned the voice he'd heard and had been kind to him.

Shifting awkwardly on the bed, he saw the damp pillowcase and nodded, taking it gently. He nodded at first then held it above him, twisting it and letting the moisture drop into his mouth. It wasn't the best but he'd drank from worse when he had travelled with Cross. "This is pretty smart since we have no cups. Thank you, Rin."

His voice sounded less strained now and he was glad for that. It felt better with the water and he took a deep breath, exhaling slowly. "It's nice to finally meet you. I guess you'd like to hear what happened in that room."

After a moment, Rin sat on the bed next to him, folding her hands on her knees and watching as he drank. The mattress sank just a little under her.

"You looked like you needed that," she said after a moment, with one last glance at his strange arm before she returned her eyes to his face. She'd seen stranger things, truly, and this boy was hurt... whatever weird physical characteristics he had were moot points to her in the face of that. "It's good to meet you too. Have you rested well enough for a conversation? Don't tell me anything too confidential."
