He'd been talking to Hisoka through the intercoms all morning, after eating some of his breakfast. He hadn't managed to eat much, because nausea was slowly starting to set in. He imagined it was a side effect of whatever medication they were pumping into him, but whatever it was, he didn't feel like eating.

The doors unlocked, and Matt stood up, giving Link a nod as he left. He had his vest and striped shirt and jeans back, but he left his gloves behind, and his goggles, because Link was interested in them. Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, because this was his first time meeting Rin, he pushed the door open and stepped out into the hallway, nose buried into his collar, dark hair falling over his eyes ( ... )

Rin turned around sharply at her name, and then stopped and blinked for a moment at the young man waving at her. It was sort of hard to tell, with thick brown hair falling over his eyes and a high collar concealing the lower part of his face, but he looked close to her age and... really, sort of shy. Hisoka's description made him unmistakable, and after a moment Rin remembered her manners, remembered how alarmed she'd been and how scared he probably still was - at least, he'd be scared if he was any kind of intelligent, and he'd sounded articulate and thoughtful to her, over the speakers ( ... )

She looked up at him, stopped and blinked in his direction, then bowed. Almost on instinct, he gave a shallow bow back, inhaling deeply. The collar of his vest smelled like cheap detergent, and he lifted his hands, even though they shook, to pull down the collar, taking another breath, and walking closer. He pushed his hair back, trying to hook it behind an ear without much success - too short to stay pushed back, too long to just let it fall.

He put his hands back in his pockets, giving her an awkward little smile. At least...she seemed slightly awkward as well. It was a bit comforting.

Taking one last deep breath, he spoke, "Ah...it was a morning. I discovered my roommate, and he isn't bad. I'm starting to feel a bit queasy, breakfast didn't help. Apparently...my cell is directly next to Hisoka's." he licked his lips, feeling stupid for talking about such mundane things while they were in this situation, with what they were meeting to talk about, like he shouldn't be distracted by a crush on a cute girl, but it was hard to ignore,

Waking with the word mother on her lips, talking with Hisoka, hearing that Sokaro had done something to someone and not having any idea what it was other than that it was something she didn't want to hear. Breakfast. The library. Rin closed her eyes for a moment and kept her smile steady. "It's been all right," she said. "I'm... glad that we're doing this. It will be good to finally do something."

She turned slightly, glanced down the hall in the direction he'd approached from. "So we're all on the same row. That's good."

He nodded, "Yes...I...think it'll be nice to get a bit more information, to...pool resources."

He huffed out a breath, readjusting his vest, trying to ignore the churning in his stomach from nervousness and breakfast. His vest wasn't fitting right, not after being washed, and it was irritating, just slightly. But there were bigger things to worry about, "I'm honestly not a hundred percent sure what the meeting entails, really." he confessed, "I think I was sort of invited off-hand. Are we discussing the list of the missing? I...think Hisoka and I were thinking of looking for information about what the current time is here, beyond the year."

He nodded, "Yes, it is handy for easier access in case something...should happen. Are you...alright? After...?"

His voice trailed off. He didn't know how to say what he meant.
