Lloyd had always been an incredibly tenacious person. It was difficult for him to admit defeat, or to give in to his own frustration or brief, passing moments of melancholy. But being here was beginning to take a toll on his long-standing will and patience; he wasn't sleeping properly, conditions were nigh unbearable, and there were long stretches of nothingness. He couldn't help the ache to be back at work in his lab, the growing sense of being caged in a situation he would never be able to escape. It was one thing when he had resigned himself to prison and probably execution under Lelouch- that had been his choice. This was not. Lloyd supposed that in the grand scheme of his life that made all the difference ( ... )

"...same here," Komui sighed out, smiling a little sheepishly as he stepped inside. Lloyd looked distinctly... tired. Everyone, of course, had more than enough reason to feel tired down to their souls in a place like this, but -- it was a little disheartening to see that look on the face of someone normally so irrepressible.

Carefully, Komui pulled the cell door all the way closed behind him before padding over to the bed, plopping down and joining Lloyd in leaning against the wall. He'd felt a little frantic before, but somehow... he didn't really want to start this conversation, now that he was here. For as long as they kept their mouths shut and just sat there together -- they could pretend they were safe. Nothing was going on outside. Lloyd hadn't been dragged off to be tazed and who knew what else. It was just... the two of them, there in the quiet.

It was almost enough to make Komui feel like he could relax for a while ( ... )

Lloyd sighed too, closing his eyes. He was completely at a loss for what they could do this time to stay out of trouble. There was nobody for either of them to hide behind; they had admitted to being the masterminds of the project. It had been necessary, of course, all of it, but maybe they ought to have found a quieter way to spread the word of the rigged intercom, even though that would have been far more difficult. There was really no way for them to win.

"If you mean, us getting caught, then yes," he said heavily. "Yes, that is what this is about. I guess you know that Antubis..." He opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling with an expression approaching sadness and fear, and he swallowed uncomfortably, unable to go on.

"...I know a bit, yes," Komui murmured, pursing his lips as he watched Lloyd's expression. He'd wanted, if at all possible, to keep Lloyd out of the limelight in the matter of the intercom hacking. He'd gone to pains not to mention the other's name at all when he'd made that first announcement over the private channel -- but it was Lloyd's project, too, and he hadn't quite been able to bring himself to ask the other man to step back. Komui regretted it more now. Even if it had irritated Lloyd in the short term, he should have stolen the accomplishment out from under the other man's nose, hogged the credit for himself and bragged as loudly about it as possible ( ... )
