"Knees are quite steady, doctor," Claire said with a smile, tilting his head to the side as he watched the other man move away to get rid of the syringe, his hands flexing again as he found his stance of comfort. "Might I ask what you have in mind for the evening?"

Hush didn't break for questions from Claire or the guard, didn't ask whether the patient understood the task set before him. Asking for cooperation - or even assuring it without a fight - wasn't the point, here. Showing how easily they could win that fight, if Claire insisted on having it, was. So, he flourished the paper he'd claimed a minute ago up to his own nose and read off the first prompt, without missing a beat.
"We'll start off easy - stand on your left foot, pat your head, and rub your stomach counter-clockwise, simultaneously."

But as the first command came, Claire wanted to laugh. "You're kidding me, right?" he asked, and he finally did laugh. "I'm not going to do something so ridiculous just because you asked me. This is a crock. You're quite the quack if you think this is beneficial in any way towards me."
Oh, he had had every intention on playing along with their little game, but he wasn't about to humiliate himself for their amusement.

And so it truly started.
"You aren't qualified," he spoke low, smooth and direct, eyes narrowed behind glasses and mouth a flat line, grip not tightening on Stanfield and all the more powerful because of that. And, in all honesty, Kiric did believe what he said. 'Hush' seemed to know what to do far more than the others, but that was only first impression. Whether or not what he did was related to mental health was another thing entirely. "Why would you know?"
