May 02, 2010 13:38

[UPDATED 06/03/2010 14:45]  On Thursday, June 3rd 7-10 PM, Koka Booth Amphitheatre is kicking off the 2010 season of its Thursday Movies By Moonlight series with a showing of Sherlock Holmes (2009).  A fairly sizeable group of Triangle area steampunks will be attending the event in full regalia.  What's not to love? A chance to sport your full kit in reasonably cool weather, enjoying the company of fellow steampunks and confused looks from the General Public. As the website says, "For only $3 for adults and picnic baskets and alcohol allowed, it is hard to find a cheaper night out on the town."  Gates open at 7, movie starts at dusk (about 8:30).  The game's afoot!

Schedule:
7:00 PM  Gates Upen
7:30 PM  Scavenger Hunt / Pre-Movie Entertainment (details below)

Gathering / Seating: A bunch of us will be gathering on the right front of the lawn (facing the stage) at the edge of the stone steps.  Bring a blanket or a chair and spread out so there is room for more people to join us.

Food Suggestion: Picnic baskets & alcohol allowed.  No reason to bring a whole meal - just bring what you want to drink and one thing to share, and we'll end up with more than enough food.

Scavenger Hunt:  Sherlock Holmes al ages "Scavenger Hunt" begins inside the at 7:30 PM with prizes.

Food Drive:  If you bring 5 cans of food, you'll get a free ticket for a future 2010 Movies By Moonlight showing.

Weather Update:  Last night by 6-6:30 (2 June) the storms were gone from the Koka Booth area, still cloudy but no rain.  Hopefully tonight will be the same.  Rain Call will be made by 3:00pm so check this site after then for confirmation or call me around 5:30pm to see if we are still on at 919.491.6040.
