There are also a ton of cheap-derriere corsets on ebay. If you shop around you can find some for about $15-20 after shipping, but they do tend to have a slight shortage on underbusts (maybe I'm just searching for the wrong words), you'll mainly find overbust fashion corsets. Mind you these don't tend to be lined and they are nowhere near strong enough to do that whole waist shrinking thing, but for a costume they're good enough.

I made this as a loli skirt. It's meant to be knee length, but I don't see why you could't just make the last tier floor length. It's pretty cute as a loli skirt and really easy too.

Mmm! I've heard good things about these guys. Do you know if they do any overbusts, or is it strictly under? That's fine for her, but I'd like an over for myself (actually just bein' selfish, here) . . .

I've been wary of the low price, but I've heard them reccomended all over the place. The site is timeless-trends.com

I'm going to be ordering from them in a few days. It'll be my first "real" corset just for everyday wear, but I figure it'll also be good for victorian outfits and for some steampunk and maybe loli things.

Would you recomend just a basic solid black cotton? I was thinking that'd be the most versitile.

Threadbangers has a lovely post on easy DIY corset building.

I've modified many and built three from scratch; so long as you don't need to mess with metal boning it's easy (with real boning? It's a bit of a deathmarch unless you're trained and supersavvy, imo--I'd recommend forking over the cash to buy one from a good corsetmaker instead). It really just depends on your desire for perfect accuracy. Good luck!

Mr's Lovett's bathing costume would be super cute! kitsune_13 September 26 2008, 19:33:15 UTC
well if you don't want to make a skirt, all she'll need is some bloomers (or black trousers cut off at the knees), and the flounces are easy to make for the bottoms of the bloomers and the sleeves of the top. (I made them the same way you would make hair scrunchies, just made the fabric considerably longer ) and tucked the shirt and bloomers into 'em.

here's a picture of my husband and I at the Tim Burton Ball last month:

This is adorable, and you did a fantastic job on what sounds like a very reasonable budget! Funny, my best friend is making this costume. I will be sure to send this to her. Sweeney Todd seems to be a popular trend among my friends this season.
