Nah, Bruce is one of my absolute favorites. He combines the best of a bunch of different genres - garage rock, 60's pop, folk, etc. - into one really original package.

Given your tastes, Born To Run's probably not the best starting point. I would go with Nebraska, which is just stark and disturbing as shit. Then probably Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River. THEN MEET ME BACK HERE!

ugh, springsteen. as a sports junkie, let me best illustrate my disdain for 'the boss': during the super bowl, to not have to listen to him, i channel surfed and actually ending up watching a lame knockoff of mxc called "wipeout" whose only redeeming quality was having that hot 'jill' chick from the mercury car ads on it.
