I, too, used to draw on stuff in public in Georgia on occasion and always kept two different colored Sharpies in my purse for just such a purpose. In Seattle it is much more difficult to draw on stuff in public so I have downgraded to only carrying one Sharpie.

I wouldn't quite say I'm afraid to walk around everywhere by myself here, but at night there have been just enough criminal incidents for me to put away the Zune and maintain constant awareness in case I do need to kick someone's ass in self defense. In Statesboro people who wanted to fight were usually too drunk to stand a chance against someone sober. I was considerably more afraid of bucks in the rut hopping out of the woods. Horny deer just seem like they'd be more dangerous than inebriated frat boys.
