Sometimes I want to kill just about every other artist I meet in this town. Not so I would be the only one left, but so I wouldn't have to put up with seeing all their worthless work hanging everywhere

Yeah, I definitely flew off the handle there. I'm just plainly pissed, mostly because there doesn't seem to be any resolution clearly available or locally attainable...
Fake artists are no different than just about anything else that can be created. There seem to be more fakes than there are legitimate ones, or at least the fake ones like to make themselves more visible. Fake artists, fake musicians, fake web designers, fake writers, fake psychologists, fake everyone. Just gotta get used to it I guess, since it's illegal to kill them and whatnot.
