The characters were perfect, especially Christine' s reactions the following morning. Just the right brand of calculating coldness, but here it was nice to have an explanation of where it might have stemmed from.
Lester was just right, too. Just off-balance enough not to be in total control, the way we saw him during their first encounter.
This was a great read.

These two are actually one of my favourite pairings - because there's clearly something there or that could have been there but something fundamental is missing.
Thanks - for reading out of the box and taking the time to comment.

They're very well matched - though ultimately he understands her more than she understands him. It was nice to write a younger less-assured Lester.
Thanks for reading and commenting.

I wasn't particularly a fan of Christine on the show, but the history she must share with Lester is certainly intriguing, and this is a great take on it.

Thanks. I've always liked Christine and am probably guilty of giving her an easier time than she deserves.(I was so grateful when I found her supposed background as it explains a lot.) But there's a fundamental difference between her and Lester. Lester would never have taken that money. Christine wouldn't have hesitated for a second.

Thanks! It's been on the backburner forever - I started it as a kind of prequel to a Christine/Jess story I wrote for a SS.

Cheers! It's been lurking on my hard drive for 18 months so nice to flick it to the finished folder. :)
