History was repeating itself. Professor Cutter’s first wife had disappeared in unexplained circumstances. Now his second wife, Claudia, was also missing.
Sir James Lester had been called in to investigate.
“It’s a complete mystery,” said Claudia’s twin, Jenny, twisting her hands in her lap. “Nick…Professor Cutter is inconsolable. At times he believes I am Claudia.”
“Most distressing,” agreed Lester. “Were you close to your sister?”
“No. Claudia and I were brought up separately. I barely knew her.”
“And Cutter? I understand you’re lodging with him.”
She met his gaze. “I know what it looks like but Nick Cutter is innocent.”
