...has got to be a Gaius fan. Thought about signing up
merlin_holidays and am now very glad I didn't. But I did look over the entries to see what it was all about. I guess it's nice and symmetrical that my squicks are everyone else's requests and vice versa, but it's also kind of depressing to be a niche even within fandom.
ETA: NOW I HAVE FRIENDS YAY :)))

I've come to realize I don't really have any squicks (I blame Supernatural :P), how weird am I?
And I'm an Uther fan, a Gaius fan, and a Uther/Morgana shipper so I'm really really lonely XD

Haha, I think it's a lot easier to travel fandom if you don't cringe every time you see a fic tagged "fisting" or whatever. Mpreg is probably my only true squick, but I wouldn't read anything involving sloppy kinks either (scat, really?). I just plain don't like Modern AU, and I prefer Arthur/Merlin bromance to romance. So that's like 90% of Merlin fandom right out. (>_<) My feelings on Uther/Morgana are not strong. I always write them according to canon, but I'm not averse to either pretending she's not his daughter or...um, not. I really love their chemistry together.
I love Gaius too! He's so interesting, and there's not a lot of love for him out there. I've been noodling a fic idea for him, actually, sort of a Gaius: The Backstory thing involving his relationships with Uther's brothers, Alice, the Purge, etc. IDK why, but he's the only Merlin character I don't buy as straight, and therefore the only one I'd write slash for. (Probably why Alice left Camelot.)

I think they only thing I couldn't stand was Modern AU, but then I got into Uther/Morgana and I just started reading anything with those two (addicted? me? no...)
I so totally want to read that, Gauis' backstory needs to be explored more. BTW are you a Gaius/Uther fan or is that a no-no for you? (I don't think anybody is straight in Merlin)

LOL, yours is the more popular interpretation. Not surprising, given that fandom runs slashy anyway, plus the male:female ratio of Camelot is, um...7:2 not counting Uther or Gaius. I like writing het because I'm a het lady myself, but I'm also big on canon. I wouldn't write Kurt Hummel with a girl, because WTF.
That said, I would still read Uther/Gaius (got recs? :)). It doesn't offend me viscerally or anything. I ♥ older characters! My major blocker to that pairing is that I can't possibly imagine an ASH that doesn't love women (he pings my straight-dar almost as much as Richard Wilson pings my gaydar, no amount of fishnet stockings and leather thongs and sweet boy kisses can make me believe otherwise). I was going to pair Gaius with one of Uther's brothers. :3
