WHY are so many people running for this hero thing? I can't keep track of all of em'. Besides, who in the hell votes for that anyway? Being a hero is like getting respect, you know! You gotta earn it! Though I guess having some leadership wouldn't be a bad thing, but this all seems really chaotic.  I don't feel comfortable voting for anyone right

They make all these big speeches and put on performances! It's fun to watch!

Performances? Like what?

You shouldn't feel obligated to participate.

I should if it's actually gonna affect me. How much of this is legit?

Depends on how seriously you want to take it. A leader isn't a leader without support, right?

From a newcomer's perspective, it's just a lot of noise and hassle. Nothing to inspire the troops.

I know what you mean, I haven't been here long either. I think the inspiring thing is supposed to come after we've picked a hero, but that's as crappy as the rest of it.

If someone wants to play hero, they've got to stir people up in the first place.

Yeah, exactly! And acting like a lame politician isn't impressive or heroic at all.

I'm not too sure about this, either . . . But I guess if it makes people happy, it's OK.

Maybe it'll make them happy, and maybe it'll unite everybody. I hope that does happen in some way. But from the sound of things, it's also asking for trouble.

You think people will fight if they don't win? But it's a hero election. Heroes wouldn't be so selfish, right?

No, it's not that I'm worried about. They're all putting big targets on their stomachs, and I heard that some bad stuff happened after the last election.

I'm sure that whoever wins will have earned their respect. How else would they win...?

Well, it sounds like what you're saying - whoever has the most respect already is going to win. That's just a damn popularity contest, isn't it? It doesn't mean anything to someone who's relatively new. It doesn't sound like much will change from it either.

But aren't those who hold the most respect most deserving to win...? If they're the person who the town deems the best...

Probably, but there's so many people running, won't it get thinned out too much? Or is this going to be like a tournament?
