*applauds you*
and I kind of agree with you on the anonymity thing. sometimes it's nice to be able to be anonymous and some of the discussions on m_m are genuinely interesting and probably wouldn't come up anywhere else, but slander is something I don't agree with either. but I'm not reading that much slander, so apparently I'm skipping the right threads.

I have no problem with discussing people and their actions, fandom politics or their stories, my personal line is: kinks, sexuality, anything that concerns somebody's personal life or self (that includes assumption about physical/mental state, body, unprompted comments about spending habits etc.). I don't want to come off as, you know, trying to divide the meme into "good memers" and "bad memers who like gossip" but I do draw my lines at visciousness and probing gossip.
Then again, I've never been in any kind of fannish spotlight, so I cannot really say how I would react if I were discussed on any kind of meme, so my opinion might change. (but I hope I know myself well enough to not completely flip ;)

That's why I started to go to merlin_anon (I think that was the name) back in the day. I didn't have many Merlin friends on my flist and that's where the most discussion was. I also didn't know if I wanted Merlin friends. I stayed because it makes me laugh, sometimes even the trolls, and I've had great discussions there, as well.

Oh, the trolls. I don't know what I would do without them.
