This is definitely one of the most ambitious and interesting fics I have read in a long time! I loved that the plot raised all these questions about what constitutes intelligent life, about free will, about the difference between replicants and humans and what fundamentally characterizes a human being. I also very much enjoyed the long-simmering relationship between Spock and Kirk in this; it is very telling of the connection between the two of them that Kirk remembered Spock's name when he did not even know his own identity and that Spock did not hesitate to risk his Starfleet career to keep searching for Jim (in this respect I thought your story contained clever and subtle echoes of The Search for Spock. This was an amazing read! Thanks for sharing!

I love this review. :D

...it is very telling of the connection between the two of them that Kirk remembered Spock's name when he did not even know his own identity...

YES. Good catch! I wanted to convey the sense that, even though their relationship is just starting out, they already kinda live in each other's pockets. To me, it makes sense that Kirk would resist his identity so much because it's just a reflection of his own internal struggles, but the fact that he would recognize Spock immediately and call him by name... Kirk may not consciously recognize it, but that reflects the fact that the one thing he's absolutely certain of is Spock. And, in my head-canon, for a guy like Reboot!Kirk, that means a lot.

Thanks for the review! <3

This was really good. I read it straight through and then dreamed about it all night. It was hard to read because I do not do well with suspence and I never could have handled it if the worst had been true. But the writing was excellent and your themes played out nicely in the end. Great story!

A very intense fic. The ending really sealed it for me. This is really the type of fic I like to read. The imagery is fantastic, plot lovingly tied up, with enough mystery to have me literally in suspense for two days.
