So, I've been following the massive group blog at Tor.com since it launched; I don't usually read many of the entries in detail, but it makes for interesting skimming, as everything under the damn sun is blogged about.

I... I don't even know what to do with that blog post. From the fact that the page they showed of the manga isn't the page she described or she totally segued into the subject of adaptations instead of sticking with her pictures vs. text topic or the fact that she then goes on to discuss style as a quantifier in that topic. (Since apparently live action adapations of manga/anime are not kosher but she doesn't even touch upon the multiple artistic styles in comics.)

(Mostly I just linked it because, dude, Fruits Basket being used as an example of /anything/ in a positive manner on a blog that has people talking about magical realism, the business of Serious Science Fiction Writing, and a whole lot of other stuff that ... isn't where I would expect Fruits Basket to pop up. Really, in that sort of situation, I would have expected them to use /Watchmen/, especially with the movie being something that nerds can't seem to stop talking about.)

Anyways, I should stop otherwise you'll get a whole 'nother paragraph rant about this when 1) you're not the person who wrote it, 2) you're not disagreeing me per se and 3) you linked it for the Furuba pimp.
At the risk of sounding, er, well, sexist, I'd be more inclined to agree with you about Watchmen if the blogger wasn't a woman. :3

It doesn't sound sexist, but I am surprised. Maybe it's because the biggest comic book nerds I know in real life are both ladies who are madly excited about the movie, so the thought that the Watchmen may not be a priori for the ladies doesn't even seem possible in my bubble of ladynerds.
