My litrchur can beat up Tom Jones ... that sissy

So, since September I've been working on a story and one night over Christmas I sat down and wrote for about four or five hours straight and actually managed to finish it. And dent my finger, but, uh ...

So, here's the story - Zen and the Art of Employment - which is a bit over 7000 words.

I've been meaning to write this story since the summer.

As is usual for these things: boy, this doesn't bode so well for Erik, does it? But hey, job! Woo! ... his boss seems to be both a total flake and something of a slippery character. I can't quite tell how much of each. The more slippery he is, the more of that flakiness is facade. Buuuuuut anyway, hee. Poor Erik. Hee.

That is an awesome parrot story. Following, er, flying in the footsteps of the world-traveling garden gnomes!

If things are going well for Erik, I'd be wondering if I had some kind of fever.

Parrots are much less creepy than garden gnomes, though. Also, I'm assuming the world-traveling garden gnomes aren't perpetrated by government employees ... although I wouldn't put it past 'em ...

Somehow I knew that the parrot had to be linked with your mother's office Christmas party in some way or another. You never let me down. XD

I like to think the insanity I communicate to the rest of the world is 'reliable' instead of 'predictable'. Best practical joke/conspiracy ever. My word.

Yes. It's reliable. Not predictable, as your father didn't leave odd objects all over your house this time; I'd have predicted that would have happened (and would have been wrong.)

And that ongoing prank does win. It wins a lot. It beats the Chia Pet prank we did in tech support by about a power of 11.

Well, there /is/ the wood still lying in the lower hallway that's been there since last September so he can build my mother bookcases. And he's decimated the dark rooms downstairs, but that's not quite the same as ... a toilet.

... Dare I ask about the Chia Pet?

Aw, you're so optimistic! Besides, maybe a /circus/ would be good for Erik! You don't know! Everyone, so anti-circus ...

Has your mother watched Amelie? Because that would explain... some. Not a lot, but some.

Amelie's that French film that came out a few years ago, right? In which case ... I sincerely doubt it.

tigersong January 5 2006, 00:02:50 UTC
Yup. 'Cause Amelie does that with a garden gnome.

Garden gnomes are /creepy/. Pedro is fluffy.

Also, I think there are or were travel commercials involving something like that? So maybe that's where.
